Data Mapping

To allow data conversion programs to be written, clear and definitive rules must be devised to:

  • match the data held on the old system(s) with the new, whether in the same format or a different one

  • translate information currently held electronically into new data and

  • define the ways that information not currently held electronically should be entered and validated.

This key implementation task is known as Data Mapping. Time and resources must be allocated for understanding and documenting the formats of data items in both the old and new systems and the validation rules governing the input of data when planning data mapping activities.

If you can read this text, it means you are not experiencing the Plone design at its best. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. Just so you know ;)
