Overview

Welcome to the system selection infoKit.

You probably wouldn't buy a used car from this man but would you purchase one of your institution's core IT systems from him?

Salesman

Buying a new IT system is a major undertaking and it's not something most of us do very often. It is therefore an area where it's all too easy to be taken in by the hype.

Most modern applications look very good at face value, especially if your are moving from an outdated system, but how do you tell if the functionality will really meet your needs.

JISC infoNet offers a simple 5 stage model for selecting IT systems. The emphasis is on putting you in the driving seat and allowing you to set the agenda for potential buyers to follow. The model helps you to test out the functionality against your own requirements so that you can be confident you are buying a system that's right for you.
