HEFCE provided Leadership, Governance and Management Programme (LGM) funding to support a project aiming to identify and promote good practice in the management of ICT to support lifelong learning. The CAMEL project was a pilot to explore the development of a Community of Practice amongst e-learning, systems, and learning technology practitioners working on aspects of promoting Lifelong Learning across institutions. The project was led by JISC infoNet in partnership with JISC, the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) and the Higher Education Academy.
Following a call for expressions of interest, which attracted a number of high-quality responses, four institutions were chosen to pilot the approach - Leeds College of Technology, Loughborough College, University of Greenwich and Staffordshire University. Participants were selected from both FE and HE in support of HEFCE's widening participation agenda and a series of structured study visits hosted by each partner formed the core of the project.
Two main outputs from the pilot project are available, free of charge, in a
variety of media:

We hope that the CAMEL model will continue to be used in the community and already a number of projects are adopting the approach. If you have adopted the approach or would like further information please contact Jacquie Kelly, JISC infoNet Senior Adviser.
CAMEL was funded under the HEFCE Leadership, Governance & Management Fund (LGMF-014).
