Data Submission

Because of time pressure there was very little confirmation of the return done by academic members of staff. Ideally the return would have been available to academic staff via the University website and staff members would have been able to comment on their profile but, because of the tight deadline, this was not possible.

The return was made to Evidence Ltd using the Excel templates.

Lessons Learned

Having experienced the process the University believes that it needs to maintain a continuous record of its research outputs and is in the process of purchasing a publications database. This purchase is being coordinated with the University of Exeter in order to improve the management of outputs from the Peninsula Medical School. Systems for populating the database will need to be put in place and embedded into University processes in order to develop an up to date view of outputs and make future REF submissions a more straightforward process.

It is hoped that in future there will be an automated link between staff web pages and the Publications database.

Corporate Systems

The University of Plymouth has the following corporate systems:

Corporate Application Supplier/System
Human Resources Midland/Trent
Finance Agresso/Financials
Student Record Capita/Unit-e

If you can read this text, it means you are not experiencing the Plone design at its best. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. Just so you know ;)
