The Support and Synthesis project for the JISC Curriculum Design and Curriculum Delivery programmes brings together a wide range of partners in one of the most ambitious and innovative support ventures for the e-Learning Programme.
The project provides support in a variety of forms, tailored to specific needs and including the hosting of an online community space called CIRCLE, online and face-to-face workshops and access to a range of resources and specialist advice and guidance. The project is also conducting an ongoing synthesis of general resources relating to curriculum design and delivery as well as emerging lessons and evidence from both programmes. These are being brought together in the Design Studio, a developmental, wiki-based resource hosted by JISC infoNet.
The project is being delivered under a collaborative arrangement between services within JISC Advance, JISC Cetis and the Higher Education Academy and its Subject Centres. JISC infoNet is co-ordinating the support project, working closely with the JISC Programme Managers. The project is also engaging expertise from the wider community to support projects.
JISC Advance is a not-for-profit company which brings together the former JISC Advisory Services, JISC Mail and the Regional Support Centres and will coordinate and develop upon the provision of excellence within the education and learning sectors, providing inspiration and advice to support the innovative use of technology.
Critical Friends
Seven expert practitioners are acting as Critical Friends, working closely with projects through cluster groups to provide advice and support, providing insights and raising awareness of relevant developments and initiatives in the sector and facilitating cluster CAMEL events.
Evaluation and Synthesis
An evaluation team is providing support to projects to help them adopt appropriate evaluation approaches and methodologies that will enable them to provide evidence of change, impact and effectiveness. In collaboration, a synthesis team is supporting projects to help guide them in the development of outputs which will be of value to the sector. These outputs will be shared through the developing Design Studio. A key role of the synthesis team is also to draw out programme-level themes, lessons, approaches and evidence to disseminate to the wider education community.
