Information & Legislation Management Survey

The further and higher education sectors have now been living with the Freedom of Information Act since 2005. Each year JISC infoNet, in association with Universities UK and GuildHE have been conducting a survey of how FOI, alongside the Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection Act have been affecting institutions and how effective those institutions have been in dealing with this legislation.

The results from previous years have been used extensively by practitioners and institutional managers within the sector to help raise awareness, to benchmark current performance and to provide evidence to support investment in further compliance measures. They have also fed into broader reviews of how FOI is affecting the public sector and as a whole. With data accumulated over 5 years the results of this survey are now beginning to offer invaluable longitudinal trend analysis as well as a much anticipated annual point in time 'snapshot.'
