Emma talks about engaging Foundation Degree students and promoting the benefits of e-portfolios

Introducing the Foundation Degree to e-portfolios and the benefits were really a lot different, we did it hands-on so we took them into a small computer lab and actually worked with them and let them go through the process of looking at my e-portfolio, looking at examples of it and we tried to talk about the benefits of it for their confidence and for their transition and transition to HE is a really big thing for Foundation Degree students and we used e-portfolio as a way of trying to say to them this will benefit you in helping you get a sense of belonging and feeling like you should be here a lot quicker than if we just have face-to-face so it was a different way of engaging the Foundation Degree students to the benefit of e-portfolio and they didn't use it in its entirety as the School of Art and Design students did, they were using parts of the e-portfolio tool so it was done on a slightly smaller scale for the Foundation Degree so that the learning curve wasn't as steep, technically and pedagogically as well.
