About Emma Purnell

Emma Purnell is a Blended Learning e-Portfolio Advisor/Researcher in the Institute for Learning Enhancement at the University of Wolverhampton. She has just begun her 3rd year with the University and during this time she has been an eportfolio learner, teacher, researcher and staff developer. Currently she is involved in supporting the newly formed Blended Learning unit within the University. Prior to this she has worked with curriculum design and delivery through eportfolio at programme level in the School of Art and Design and School of Education and now has a cross University role supporting e-portfolio pedagogy and practice development. Emma's role includes dissemination of good e-portfolio practice internally and externally, an element of this meant she was the co-organiser for the 2008 'Telling e-Portfolio Stories' conference held at the University. She was a staff developer and part of the core project team in the recent HEA funded Pathfinder Phase 1 project: 'embedding e-portfolio at level 1' and she is currently working on the sustainability and exit strategy implementation following this project.

Externally Emma has been a video case study for the JISC Learner Voice publication and has been invited to speak at a number of events about her experiences as both an e-portfolio learner and teacher. Her research interests are in the learner experience of e-portfolio and Personal Development Planning facilitated through eportfolio and she is currently undertaking a part time PhD in this area. In the wider e-portfolio research community Emma is a member of the International Coalition for eportfolio Research, as a member of Cohort III, the US based research coalition and of cohort IV, which is based in Europe.
