Virtual Campus Installation Instructions

You will need rights to download software onto your PC in order to install the Tour. You may need to check your organisation's policy on this.

IPIX Plugin

How you install IPIX depends on what web browser you are using.

For Internet Explorer

  1. Download IPIX using the following link, http://www.ipix.com/download/ie_activex_dl.html. This download procedure will take a few seconds with a Broadband connection or approximately 5 minutes with a 56k modem, or 8 minutes with a 28.8 modem.

  2. You will be asked whether you want to Run or Save the file – we recommend you Choose Run.

  3. Follow the instructions for the ActiveX Setup program (Click, Next; then Accept; then Finish).

  4. After the download is completed, close your browser.

  5. Launch the Virtual Campus from the JISC infoNet website.

If you chose to ‘Save’ at step 2, a file named axIpx32.exe will appear in your download directory (or a location you specified).

Launch the installer by double-clicking axIpx32.exe (you will only need to do this once).

Restart your browser and begin to view iPIX images.

For Firefox and Netscape Browsers

To automatically install IPIX in Firefox/Netscape Browsers follow this link: http://www.ipix.com/download/xpi_installation.html

If this fails to install IPIX you can follow the instructions below:

  2. After the download is completed, close your browser

  3. A file named "IpxSet32.exe" will appear in your download directory (or a location you specified)

  4. Launch the installer by double-clicking axIpx32.exe and install the plugin.

  5. Restart your browser and begin to view iPIX images

For Apple Mac Users

You can download the IPIX plugin from http://www.ipix.com/download/osx.html.

If you can read this text, it means you are not experiencing the Plone design at its best. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. Just so you know ;)
