Evaluating Your Portfolio
Unlike with Project Management and to some extent Programme Management, there is unlikely to be a defining 'Go Live' moment when you can accurately assess what has been achieved. The payback on transformational activities takes place over a long time period and many of the benefits occur in terms of process and behavioural change that are notoriously difficult to measure. You are really instigating a process of continuous improvement. Having said this, if you articulated your Vision and Strategic Objectives well then you should have some measurable, time limited characteristics against which you can assess the current state of your organisation.
