Registration Requirements

Most social software services require registration before you can start to use them. At present, there is not a great deal of compatibility between the different sites, so you will usually have to register separately and somewhat laboriously for each new sites. However, projects such as Friend of a Friend (FOAF) are attempting to improve this situation, by enabling people to create a machine readable business card which they can quickly upload to every site. This should also help others to navigate through the maze and perform useful searches, for example, to find everyone in the North East working on arts outreach projects.
