Design for Learning Programme: Useful Resources

You may find a number of infoKits useful within your projects, a list of relevant Kits is shown in the left-hand navigation panel and specific areas raised in programme meetings will be reflected on this page.

JISC infoNet's Project Management infoKit includes tools, techniques and tips which can be used to underpin the JISC Project Management guidelines which you should all follow. In particular the infoKit contains material on Roles and Responsibilities and Stakeholders.

Assessing and managing risk is covered in the comprehensive Risk Management infoKit.

Change is endemic in the education sector. Change is also difficult. The Change Management infoKit aims to help institutions find an approach that suits their situation. Managing change is key to many projects and we particularly welcome views on this material and experiences from your projects to feed back into this new resource for the community.

The set of three briefing papers under the banner 'Supporting a Lifetime of Learning', part of the output from the JISC MLEs for Lifelong Learning Programme, includes a paper on 'Cross-Institutional Provision: What institutions really need to know'.

JISC infoNet will be taking the Designing Spaces for Effective Learning work forward in conjunction with the JISC Development Team, Regional Support Centres and other JISC Services to provide a suite of resources to assist Senior Managers and Practitioners tackling this transformational activity. A number of related and underpinning resources are already listed on our anchor page, these will continue to be built up into a comprehensive resource for this area.

A number of other related resources which may appeal to individual projects include the Process Review infoKit which contains a set of models which can be used to transform processes in a more learner-centric way; a range of material covering some pedagogic areas included in the Effective Use of VLEs applied infoKit; and a briefing paper from OSS Watch on Open Source Software.

The Implementing e-Learning applied infoKit was commissioned by the SFC to signpost resources that can provide assistance in assessing the costs, benefits and risks of implementing and developing e-learning provision.

A number of external links are given in the top left-hand box to other services such as CETIS, the Centre for Educational Technology Interoperability Standards, who are hosting the support project for this programme, the JISC TechDis Service and the JISC Legal Information Service. Also included is the home page for the Programme on the JISC website, and the e-Learning Focus site which provides ongoing support to the JISC e-Learning Programme with a range of news, articles, features and other materials.

Glenaffric have developed a resource to assist the Scottish higher education sector in accessing relevant sources of information, tools and materials from JISC development programmes and the Higher Education Academy that support flexible delivery. The resource for managers and practitioners has been structured to map onto the flexible delivery typology agreed in consultation with the sector in 2004-05 and is available at http://www.glenaffric.co.uk/gcms/.

If you can read this text, it means you are not experiencing the Plone design at its best. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. Just so you know ;)
