| JISC infoNet has produced a number of tools to assist in the development of records and information management processes. Tools such as the HE & FE Retention Schedule have been developed for institutions to adopt and tailor to their own business needs. |
Records Retention in Further Education Project http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/partnerships/records-retention-fe/index_html The aim of this tool is to provide guidance on the periods of time for which particular records must be retained by institutions. This master reference source can be used to provide the basic outline retention/destruction schedule for your institution and the database is available now both online (read-only) and as a downloadable spreadsheet. |
Managing Information To Make Life Easier http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/records-management/guide-for-administrators/index_html Whether it is the thousands of messages in an email account, the mountain of papers on a desk, or the disorganised shared network the problems are largely the same: this guide aims to help address these problems. It has been designed to answer real life questions and provide practical solutions. |
Records Retention in HE Introduction http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/partnerships/records-retention-he/index_html The Business Classification Scheme (BCS) provides a generic 'map' of the functions and activities undertaken by HEIs and can be used to form the basis of an institution's file plan. The Records Retention Schedule (RRS) reflects the function-based structure of the BCS and provides statutory or recommended retention periods for the records produced by each activity. |
Electronic Document and Records Management System Implementation Toolkit - Introduction http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/InfoKits/edrm/index_html The objective of this toolkit is to provide institutional Records Managers and other information professionals with a 'one-stop shop' for impartial, detailed and practical advice of use during all the stages of an EDRM system implementation that is specific to the needs of the FE/HE sector. |
http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/records-management/developers-pack A self-contained suit of resources designed to enable institutions to run their own in house training workshops designed to help ensure their staff are aware of the implications of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Freedom of Information Act (Scotland) 2002 and what must be done to comply with it. |
