Strategy infoKit Pilot Projects
To support the take-up and embedding of the new Strategy infoKit, JISC infoNet funded 4 institutions to pilot specific elements of the infoKit in response to an identified institutional need.
The 4 institutions, together with a brief summary of the focus of their project are:
Beaumont College
Beaumont College's current master strategic plan covers the period September 2005 to August 2010 and it is now time to develop its replacement. We will use the strategy infokit to review (and update) our core strategy during the first half of 2010. This review takes place against a backdrop of a changing funding landscape, the resulting need for diversification of the colleges offer and the need to redevelop the estate of the college.

Cambridge Regional College
As part of the annual self assessment process, including the usual review of manager feedback, the Senior Management Team have committed in 2009/10 to provide clearer and absolutely consistent messages to all with regard to priorities. As a consequence it is anticipated that the tool will help us to:
- Review communication mechanisms, particularly around consultation and negotiation
- Actively review decisions and priorities and identifying when not to take projects, initiatives or ideas forward
- Clarify priorities, allowing for low-priority work to be deferred
- Provide managers with an environment in which they can succeed in their roles
University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh introduced a Balanced Scorecard performance measurement tool in 2002. The scorecard has a high profile on our website. In the context of our current Strategic Plan 2008-12, the time is now opportune to further review our scorecard's indicators and to enhance our approach to determining, and reporting on, performance against the indicators and targets in our Balanced Scorecard and Strategic Plan.

University of Sheffield
Starting in December 2009, we have begun the process to develop a new strategy for Student Services at the University of Sheffield, which we anticipate launching fully at the end of the summer 2010, in time for the start of the new academic year and the new student recruitment cycle. This timing will be in tandem with the review of the University's corporate strategy. The work will also take account of a number of significant national changes and potential policy developments impacting on the direction of our work, including the aspirations of the HE Framework (as interpreted by a new government), the Browne review of student funding, the DBIS postgraduate education review, recommendations arising from the National Student Forum, HEFCE's review of quality assurance arrangements for HE provision, and other issues.
